Black Twill Suit Jacket, Slim Fit

Black is the shortest route to looking formal, and a slim cut is what keeps it from looking severe. This jacket is both, and very little else.

It is crafted in a tailored slim fit, so the line stays close through the chest and waist without pulling. The twill surface gives the black somewhere to catch light, which matters more in this colour than in any other - flat black absorbs everything and can read heavy under an evening lamp. Nothing has been added to the design that would date it in a season or two.

It works two ways. Worn with its matching trousers it is a complete suit for the occasions that ask for one, and worn on its own it becomes a relaxed take on suiting over something lighter underneath. That range is what makes a plain black jacket worth having. A white shirt sharpens it; an open collar and darker trousers loosen it.
